The Economist discusses the worsening climate for media in Hong Kong
A week ago more than 100 police raided the Apple Daily offices in Hong Kong on 16 June.
This incident was a result of an ongoing investigation into Apple Daily, a pro-democracy publisher founded by Jimmy Lai (also currently jailed and facing a possible life term in prison). The publisher and Lai have been accused of conspiring to collude with foreign forces.
Press freedom incidents have steeply risen in Hong Kong since the introduction of their new National Security Law.
